Hong Kong Government have had an opportunity

of further considering the matter.

now submitted a revised proposal for an

ad valorem tax of 40% instead of the 27%

previously suggested; say that a copy of the

correspondence including his two despatches

of the 14th November is being sent to the

Customs and Excise Dept. with a request for

their observations.

And send a copy of Nos.19, 21, 22

and 23 on 52923/28 and No.1 and No.3 on this

file to the Customs & Excise ref. No.7 on

52923, saying that Mr. Amery will be glad of

any further observations the Board may care

to make.

And inform the Company in replying

to No.1 that a copy of their letter has been

sent to Hong Kong for consideration.
